Method: The present study is exploratory in nature with a qualitative approach, which sought to understand and report nurses' knowledge about neurogenic shock. The research was carried out with nurses from the Emergency Room of the Hospital Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Vitória and the State Hospital for Urgency and Emergency, both in Vitória, Espírito Santo. Professionals working in urgent and emergency care for at least six months were included. Results: The research showed that nurses' knowledge on the subject is deficient, which can lead to unpreparedness when dealing with neurogenic shock. The lack of knowledge is due to several factors, such as: the non-inclusion of the topic in educational institutions, the low incidence of shock in the sector, the joviality of nurses demonstrating little experience and the lack of courses and updates carried out by nurses. professionals themselves. Regarding the use of nursing systematization, it was found that nurses identified the risk of infection, risk of falling, impaired physical mobility and risk of pressure injuries as the main diagnoses and together they presented prescriptions for prevention, promotion, protection, recovery and maintaining the patient's health. Conclusion: Based on the evidence, it is essential that nursing professionals seek to continuously update themselves and thus provide effective nursing care to avoid potential complications and promote the patient's recovery.
Andrielly Oliveira de Sousa, Eliezer Agostinho de Oliveira, Felipe dos Santos Ramiro da Silva, Amanda Rodrigues Zanotti, Lara Meira Pratti, Cintia de Lima Garcia, Francisco Naildo Cardoso Leitão, Italla Maria Pinheiro Bezerra, Simone Karla Apolonio Duarte, José Lucas Souza Ramos Copyright (c) 2023 Clinics Biopsychosocial https://clinicsbiopsychosocial.com/index.php/cbps/article/view/22 Fri, 22 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Sociodemographic and clinical profile of elderly care in nurses in A Philantropic Hospital In Vitória-Es https://clinicsbiopsychosocial.com/index.php/cbps/article/view/20
Introduction: O aging is a physiological process in which the morphological, functional, biochemical and psychological chances provide a commitment from autonomy and adaptation of body against of external mean, which leads to a higher individuals’ sensitivity, resulting in low quality of life, decreased physical ability and mortality, in addition from the high need for hospitalizations. Objective: to analyze the sociodemographic and clinical profile of older adults attended in the wards of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Vitória Hospital. Methodology: Study of cross-sectional observational cohort with retrospective data collection carried out through from the analysis in medical records in elderly hospitalized in the wards of a philanthropic hospital in Vitória-ES. Regarding this, not only neurocognitive diseases, as well as all the consequences of pathologies that generate life-limiting disabilities, require a palliative approach. Objective: To describe the main feeding routes used in patients undergoing palliative care during the course of the disease, such as in the terminal phase of life. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, in the databases of the VHL (Virtual Health Library), which is a tertiary source database, containing other databases such as MEDLINE, LILACS, IBECS, etc. Two search strategies were used using selected descriptors in DECS – Descriptors in Health Sciences, namely: (1) “Palliative care” OR “Palliative care at the end of life” AND “Feeding methods”; (2) “Palliative care” OR “Palliative care at the end of life” AND “Nutrition”. Results: Although the articles show that the choice of feeding route is something that should provide comfort to the patient, many articles discuss the choice of not feeding, that is, when the patient is terminally ill, choose not to use invasive routes. Conclusion: It was observed that the division between the parenteral/enteral and oral routes was shown to be equal among the articles, that is, the choice of the best way of feeding patients in palliative care will depend on their pathology, on the degree of the disease, the palliative care phase, the choice of the patient and family members, and especially the prognosis.
Elis de Oliveira Campos Paiva Mol, Luiz Carlos de Abreu, Shayla Raizem Spalenza, Thayná Ariane Venturini de Oliveira, Romeu Paulo Martins Silva, Manoela Cassa Libardi, José Lucas Souza Ramos Copyright (c) 2023 Clinics Biopsychosocial https://clinicsbiopsychosocial.com/index.php/cbps/article/view/23 Fri, 22 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Uniting Theory and Practice: The Crucial Partnership between Epidemiology and Public Health in the Era of COVID-19 https://clinicsbiopsychosocial.com/index.php/cbps/article/view/24 Jean Henri Maselli-Schoueri, Laércio da Silva Paiva Copyright (c) 2023 Clinics Biopsychosocial https://clinicsbiopsychosocial.com/index.php/cbps/article/view/24 Fri, 22 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000
